Gov Idris attends 2025 World Teachers’ Day celebration in Abuja
Kebbi State Governor, Comrade, Dr. Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, on Sunday, joined other dignitaries across the country at the 2025 World Teachers’ Day celebration held at the Eagle Square, Abuja.
Organized by the Nigeria Union of Teachers, NUT, the event was heralded with an address by the National President of the Union, Comrade Audu Titus Amba .
Comrade Amba commended teachers nationwide for their dedication and vital contributions to human and national development.
He described October 5 as a milestone in the history of the teaching profession, being the date set aside globally by UNESCO since 1994, to recognize and celebrate the role of teachers in the development of humanity and society.
The NUT President lauded the Federal Government for sustaining its commitment to the observance of the annual event and for promoting initiatives that acknowledged excellence among educators.
Comrade Amba particularly appreciated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for upholding the President’s Teachers and Schools Excellence Award, established in 2007 to reward deserving teachers, administrators, and schools for their outstanding contributions to quality education delivery.
He thanked the President, Governors, and stakeholders for their support and praised teachers nationwide for their dedication and vital role in shaping the nation’s future.
The NUT President further commended the Federal Ministry of Education for its efforts, advocating for action on key issues affecting Unity School teachers, including promotions, payment of arrears, and employment of verified PTA teachers.
The Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, a former Chairman of NUT in Kebbi State and one-time National President of the prestigious union was among the distinguished guests at the event.
His presence was especially significant as someone who has devoted his public service career to advancing teachers’ welfare, promoting quality education, and reforming the education sector both in Kebbi State and beyond.
Governor Idris, who was accompanied by high-profile personalities from Kebbi State, has always reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting teachers and strengthening the education sector at all levels.
The celebration was attended by top government officials, education stakeholders, and representatives from across the federation.
