Fuel Subsidy Removal: Zamfara Workers Find It Difficult To Operate ---NLC Boss

Following the removal of fuel subsidy by the Federal government, the  Zamfara state civil servants are currently finding it difficult to operate effectively.

An investigation conducted by this medium has categorically shown that in some ministries,  boards and parastatals most of the government functionaries were absent in their offices for high cost of transportation fares.

When contacted on the issue, the chairperson Nigeria Labour Congress NLC Zamfara State Chapter, Comrade Sani Halliru described the situations of Zamfara civil servants as unbearable as a result of the subsidy removal which makes it difficult for workers to assess their places of work as well as to take care of their families.

He further seek government intervention to alleviate the suffering Of workers in the state, saying Zamfara civil servants receive the least salary in Nigeria, hence the need to look into their sufferings.

According to him, even though the present administration under the leadership of governor Dauda Lawal met so many challenges when it came in to office, the  labour would not relent in its effort to call on the governor to find a means in which workers will manage themselves due to fuel subsidy removal.

The NLC  Chairperson who described the state governor Dauda Lawal as workers friendly by paying all the outstanding salary arrears that was owed by the past administration, said they have confidence in him that he can do more to workers in terms of the workers rights, privileges and their welfare, he therefore thanked the governor for the gesture.

 He however disclosed that the organised labour in the state would meet with the governor to discuss the problems of the workers on the best ways to address them.

 He said workers are finding it difficult to cope with the present situations and urged the government to take serious  measures in addressing the hardships facing the workers occasioned by high cost of transportation.
