Former governor of Zamfara state, and senator representing Zamfara West Senatorial District, Senator Abdul Aziz Yari has promised that very soon he will rebuild all the houses destroyed by the flood in Gummi town the headquarters of Gummi local government in his constituency.
The senator made this known when he visited the Emir of Gummi Justice Lawal Hassan, to sympathise with him and the people of Gummi over the flooding that destroyed thousands of houses and farm produce
Senator Abdulaziz Yari also announced the donated fifteen trucks of grains to Gummi flood victims in Zamfara state
According to him, the grains comprised five trucks of Maize, five trucks of rice and five trucks of millet.
Senator further donated five thousand mattresses and ten thousand blankets to the victims.
He stated that his committee set up to ascertain the level of damages by the flood in Gummi town will soon handed over the donation to Gummi emirate for an onward distribution to the beneficiaries.
The lawmaker told the Emir that the committee under his office will work assiduously to ensure only those affected will be assisted and rebuild their houses .
He appealed to wealthy individual in the state to assist the victims of flood in Gummi town at this trying time.
Yari who described the incident as an act of God, urged people in the local government to desist from making building on the water ways for their safety.
Responding, the Emir of Gummi Justice Lawal Hassan Gummi commended senator Yari for the concern to his constituents, pledged judicious distribution of the assorted grains donated to the victims.
Report indicate that over 3000 houses have been destroyed by flood in Gummi town and it’s environs as a result of heavy downpour last Friday.
