DR. FATIMA AHMED ALIYU HOSTS APC WOMEN’S WING  MEETING IN SOKOTO

A high-level meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Women’s Wing was hosted in Sokoto State by the Wife of the Governor, Dr. Fatima Ahmed Aliyu, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen women’s participation in governance and community development. 

The meeting, held at Umaru Ali  Polytechnic,Sokoto, was convened by Dr. Fatima Ahmed Aliyu in collaboration with other key stakeholders to enhance coordination and engagement among women across the state.

In her remarks, the Governor’s wife reaffirmed her commitment to empowering women and improving their socio-economic well-being. She noted that, since its inception, her office has initiated various vocational and skills acquisition programmes aimed at supporting women acquire some knowledge and promoting self-reliance.

 She emphasised the critical role of women in nation-building, stressing that providing them with necessary support and opportunities is essential for sustainable development.

 According to her, empowering women at the grassroots level is key to reducing poverty and improving community livelihoods.

Dr. Fatima Ahmed Aliyu also used the opportunity to commend the achievements recorded by the Sokoto State Government under the leadership of her husband, noting that the administration has made significant strides in key sectors.

She stated that the successes recorded so far reflect the government’s commitment to improving the welfare of citizens and delivering the dividends of democracy across the state.

The first Lady, further urged women to actively participate in politics and decision-making processes, stressing that their involvement is vital for inclusive governance and sustainable development.

 Dr. Fatima encouraged women to support one another, remain steadefast, and take advantage of available opportunities to contribute meaningfully to the Society,adding  that increased women’s participation will not only strengthen democratic institutions but also ensure that the interests and aspirations of women are adequately represented at all levels of governance.

She called on women to remain united, proactive, and supportive of government policies and programmes, noting that collective effort is crucial to achieving meaningful progress. 

Dr.Fatima4 assured participants of her continued commitment to initiatives that uplift women and enhance their standard of living, stating that such initiatives are designed to equip women with the tools and opportunities needed to become self-reliant and contribute meaningfully to the development of their communities.

Also speaking at the event, the State Women Leader of the APC, Hajiya Rabi Tudun Wada, commended the initiative, describing it as timely and impactful. 

She noted that empowering women is essential to achieving sustainable development and improving the livelihoods of beneficiaries.

 Hajiya Rabi Tudun Wada urged participants to make effective use of the opportunities provided, emphasising the importance of commitment and dedication in achieving the desired outcomes. 

She reiterated the commitment of the APC Women’s Wing to continue supporting policies and programmes that uplift women across the state.

The meeting was attended by the wife of the State Deputy Governor; the wife of the Speaker and that of his Deputy; the wife of the former Deputy Governor, Barrister Muktari Shagari; Commissioner for Women and Children Affairs, Hadiza Ahmed Shagari, Special Advisers,among other prominent stakeholders. 

The event attracted women leaders, party stakeholders, and participants from across the state, underscoring the growing commitment to women’s empowerment and inclusive development in Sokoto State.
