The Kidney care and transplant foundation has provided dialysis consumable to Hadejia dialysis center, Hadejia local government of Jigawa state on Thursday. as part of its tireless efforts to assist kidney patients.
The consumables include; 65 gallons of Acid concentrate, 65 blood tubing, 65 Dialyzer, and 65 Bicarbonate cartridge.
The foundation consultant who is also the consultant, physician and Nephrologist at Aminu Kano teaching Hospital, Professor Aliyu Abdu said the dialysis center in Hadejia was an initiative of the community, he said what the Hadejia people did deserve commendation and support to the center.
Aliyu Abdu who is also the professor medicine at Bayero University Kano said Kidney dialysis is the process of removing excess water, solutes, and toxins from the blood in people whose kidneys can no longer perform these functions naturally.
He said Dialysis is a treatment that does some of the things done by healthy kidneys. It is needed when kidneys can no longer take care of the body's needs.
Prof. said the center charges only five thousand naira (5000) per session to a patient whereby other hospitals both the government and private charges N40,000 and above per session.
He said as a consultant to the center, he sort for support for the center because of the cases of kidney failure recorded in Hadejia.
According to him, the center supported many patients with kidney failure with kidney transplants and dialysis which deserve support from well-meaning Nigerians.
Chairman of the foundation Architect Ibrahim Haruna, said this sickness if it catches somebody will run a person down financially.
Haruna said they are doing the support quarterly to support the kidney patient who needs to be supported.
He said the consumables cost a million naira and this according to him is a part of their support so that people's attention would be drawn to support such centers due to danger of the sickness.
The chairman said the foundation supported not only Hadejia but Rashid Shekoni teaching Hospital and Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital recently.
Receiving the items the chief medical director (CMD) of Hadejia general hospital Dr. Usman Muhammad said over 205 people treated on dialysis in the center.
He said the center has two visiting consultants in which they periodically come to check the patient and a tireless professor Aliyu Abdu who constantly supported the center professionally and the support he sought to assist the center.
Doctor Usman said High blood pressure and diabetes are the two most common causes of kidney failure. They can also become damaged from physical injury, diseases, or other disorders.
He called on people to always Abubakari blood pressure with a view to prevent themselves from the sickness.
Also Sa'in Hadejia Alhaii Musa Ibrahim who represented the Emir of Hadejia Alhaji Abubakar Maje appreciated the gesture.
He said Hadejia is among the local governments that mostly recorded kidney failure.
