A statement issued by the Chairman of the association, Amb. Ibrahim Tudu said parents and guardians of the students are not in support of the idea of returning the students home without finishing their remaining semester.
“The semester that remains for them to complete their degree programmes, therefore, bringing them back home without completing the remaining semester is unacceptable”, he added.
According to him, Parents have therefore resolved to embark on more consultations, appeals and publicizing the situation and predicament of the children at the same time demanding action from the Zamfara state government and Cyprus University.
He explained that Zamfara State had earlier promised action on the issue but up to now nothing has been done.

We want to make it categorically clear that we the parents and guardians of the 88 Zamfara state students studying in Cyprus are against returning the students without completing their degree programme”, he added.
“This association want to appeal once again to Governor Dauda Lawal and his administration to rescind their decision to return the students and reverse the earlier resolution made to return the students home for the general interest of the state and the students” ” the statement added.
According to the statement, the state government should pay the debt and sign an MOU with Cyprus University to facilitate the successful completion of students’ studies.
