Benin Republic releases Yoruba Nation activist Sunday Igboho
Yoruba Nation activist, Sunday Adeyemo popularly called Sunday Igboho, has been released after been held in protective custody in Republic of Benin.
The Yoruba Nation leader, Prof. Banji Akintoye made this in a statement, adding that Igboho is already on his way to Germany to meet his family, Arise News reports on Monday.
Igboho, who was arrested in 2021 by the International Criminal Police Organisation at an airport in Cotonou, was on his way to Germany when he was "disembarked from his plane and arrested by the Beninese police and then transferred to the Cotonou Criminal Brigade."
The activist fled Nigeria after a raid on his residence in Ibadan in Oyo State by the Department of State Service who accused him of stockpiling arms.
