BAGO CALLS FOR DELIBERATE EFFORTS TO ADDRESS POVERTY AND ILLITERACY

Niger State Governor, farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago has called for deliberate, and stronger measures in addressing poverty and illiteracy in the Society.

The farmer Governor stated this when he received a delegation of 13 members of syndicate 5, participating in the executive intelligence management course 18 of the National Institute for Security Studies, Abuja, on a course tour of Niger State.

He observed that poverty and illiteracy are the bane of insecurity, hence, a more proactive measure to checkmate the ugly trend.

The farmer Governor described the decision of the Institution to consider Niger State as one of their choices for the course tour as a good development as some parts of the State have been faced with insecurity

He said, Niger State is putting in place many efforts to deliberately educate people and transition them from poverty to sustainable livelihoods, using its enormous natural and human resources to achieve that.

The farmer Governor was optimistic that the findings by the syndicate will enable government at all levels to reshape their policies on security.

Leader of the delegation, R.A. Bolarinwa said the 13 member syndicate 5 is part of a larger class of 78 participants in the executive intelligence management course 18, spread across the Country, with the course designed to equip strategic leaders in security with required knowledge to address the complex and dynamic security challenges in their various Agencies.

Mr. Bolarinwa said the theme of this Year's Course, “Non State actors in security management, issues, challenges, and prospects for peace and development in Africa” is in recognition of the enormous influence of non-state actors in helping to attain stability and growth.

He said the team was in Niger State to see what the Niger State Government is doing to address insecurity and commended farmer Umaru Bago for his strides.

He disclosed that at the end of the tour, there will be presentations of reports at plenary and subsequently, there will be African as well as World tours where reports, findings, and recommendations will be made.
