ASUU:Education Minister Gives Reasons Why He Walked Out On Students

As the federal government and the academic union of universities ASUU will meet again today, Nigerian Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu gives reasons why he  walked out during a meeting with students on.

Report shows that the minister had an impromptu meeting with some members of the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, on Tuesday following the lingering strike embarked upon by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU.

The meeting was a sequel to massive protests staged by the students across the country demanding an end to the incessant strikes.

According to reports, the minister, however, walked out on the students as the meeting ended in deadlock.

Adamu explained that he stepped out of the meeting because the students laid accusations on him.

He said, “I walked out from the impromptu meeting with members of NANS today because the students were shouting, accusing me of putting the education sector to a mess and asking me to step down from office.”

Meanwhile, the minister of labour and employment Chris Ngige will hold a meeting with the union today as confirmed by the ASUU president.

It could be recall that ASUU embarked on a 1 month warning strike on 14 February 2022 accusing federal government for showing unseriousness on the negotiation
