ADC to Shattima: Leadership is not about defending political allies while ignoring the cries of suffering citizens

It is truly surprising and deeply disappointing to see Kashim Shettima worrying himself about the ADC’s online registration, claiming that people are registering with fake names. One must ask: why is this your concern? Why are you so interested in the internal affairs of another political party?

At a time when our nation is bleeding and communities are under attack, this should be the least of your worries. Look at the grave realities unfolding before us. Innocent Nigerians are being killed, butchered, and terrorized almost every day.

In places like Gwoza, attacks have occurred even within the town itself. In Konduga, people have recently lost their lives to violent assaults. In Mobbar, killings have continued for days without relief. Civilians are dying, and even the brave soldiers who are supposed to defend the nation are not spared from these brutal attacks.

These are the issues that should command the urgent attention and voice of our leaders. These are the tragedies that require courage, compassion, and decisive leadership.

Yet, we have not heard the same level of concern or outrage from you regarding these heartbreaking events. Instead of speaking loudly about the bloodshed and suffering happening across these communities, you chose to focus on matters that have little or no impact on the safety and survival of the Nigerian people.

What makes this even more troubling is that when you attended the Iftar gathering with Bola Ahmed Tinubu, you were quick to speak and defend political interests, stretching every effort just to please and protect your principal. Meanwhile, innocent Nigerians continue to die in silence.

Leadership is not about defending political allies while ignoring the cries of suffering citizens. Leadership is about standing up for the people, speaking truth when it matters most, and confronting the realities that threaten the peace and security of the nation.

At this critical moment in our country’s history, Nigerians expect their leaders to focus on protecting lives, restoring security, and giving hope to communities living in fear. The lives of our people should never be secondary to political distractions.

The real question remains: while citizens are being killed and communities destroyed, shouldn’t the protection of human life be your first and most urgent priority?
