DAN’IYA EXPRESSES DEEP CONCERN OVER WORSENING INSECURITY IN SOKOTO, CALLS FOR IMMEDIATE DECISIVE ACTION

The Governorship Candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Sokoto State, Hon. Manir Muhammad Dan’iya (Walin Sokoto), has expressed grave concern over the deteriorating security situation in the state following reports that no fewer than 30 villages in Danchadi District of Bodinga Local Government Area have reportedly been deserted as a result of sustained bandit attacks.

Hon. Dan’iya described the development as a humanitarian and security emergency that requires urgent and coordinated intervention by all relevant authorities, warning that the continued displacement of rural communities poses a serious threat to the socio-economic stability of Sokoto State.

In a statement issued by his Media Aide, Aminu Abdullahi, the ADC governorship candidate lamented the growing wave of killings, kidnappings, displacement of innocent residents, and destruction of livelihoods across several parts of the state.

According to him, the latest reports from Danchadi District paint a disturbing picture of communities forced to abandon their ancestral homes due to persistent attacks by armed bandits.

“It is deeply troubling that entire communities are being displaced while many families continue to live in fear. The protection of lives and property remains the foremost constitutional responsibility of government, and every effort must be made to restore confidence among our people,” Hon. Dan’iya stated.

The ADC candidate expressed concern that the recurring attacks and the displacement of residents have continued despite repeated calls by citizens and stakeholders for stronger and more proactive security measures.

He stressed that the security challenges confronting Sokoto State require renewed commitment, improved intelligence gathering, stronger collaboration among security agencies, and sustained engagement with local communities and traditional institutions.

“Government must demonstrate greater urgency in responding to this crisis. The continued expansion of insecurity into more communities is unacceptable and requires immediate, coordinated and practical solutions that will restore peace and safeguard the lives of our citizens,” he said.

Hon. Dan’iya warned that if decisive measures are not implemented, the security situation could continue to spread, with far-reaching consequences for economic activities, agriculture, education, and the overall wellbeing of the people.

He urged the Federal and Sokoto State Governments to strengthen security operations in vulnerable areas, provide adequate support to security agencies, and ensure that displaced communities receive the humanitarian assistance needed to rebuild their lives.

The ADC gubernatorial candidate also called on residents to continue supporting security agencies with credible and timely information while remaining vigilant and united in the collective fight against criminality.

“Our people deserve to live in peace and pursue their legitimate livelihoods without fear. Sokoto has enormous potential, but meaningful development cannot take place where insecurity persists. We must act decisively to reclaim every community from criminal elements and restore hope to our people,” he added.

Hon. Dan’iya prayed for the protection of all communities across Sokoto State, the safe return of displaced residents to their homes, and the success of ongoing efforts to restore lasting peace and security throughout the state.
