SULTAN OF DOSSO CONFERS PRESTIGIOUS TITLE OF SARDAUNAN DOSSO ON GOV IDRIS

The Sultan of Dosso, His Highness Djermakoye Ahmadou Sounna Saidou, has conferred the prestigious traditional title of Sardaunan Dosso on the Governor of Kebbi State, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris (Kauran Gwandu), in recognition of his outstanding infrastructural and human development strides, as well as his sterling leadership qualities.
The conferment, which took place at the Presidential Banquet Hall, Birnin Kebbi, on Thursday, was witnessed by distinguished gathering of traditional rulers from Niger Republic and Kebbi State, government officials, as well as dignitaries from both countries, underscoring the enduring cultural and historical ties between the two nations.
The honor was formally conveyed through Decree Number 012/SD/2026 issued by the Sultanate of Dosso, citing Governor Idris’ commitment to peace, cross-border cooperation, and the promotion of unity among communities sharing common heritage.
The Sultan noted that the title was bestowed in appreciation of the Governor’s dedication to strengthening traditional institutions and fostering harmonious relationships between Kebbi State and neighboring regions in Niger Republic.
In his remarks, Governor Idris expressed profound gratitude to the Sultan and the people of Dosso for the honor, describing it as historic and deeply significant.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to improving the lives of the people of Kebbi State and sustaining efforts that promote unity, development, and mutual respect across borders.
He emphasized that the bond between Nigeria and Niger remained unbreakable, rooted in shared history, culture, and faith.
The Emir of Argungu, Alhaji Sama’ila Muhammadu Mera, in his address, highlighted the importance of the recognition, noting that it reflects the Governor’s impactful leadership and the admiration he commands beyond Nigeria’s borders.
He commended the Sultanate of Dosso for the gesture, describing it as a step toward strengthening long-standing relations between the two peoples.
A major highlight of the occasion was the presentation of traditional regalia kits to Governor Idris by the Sultan of Dosso, symbolizing his new status as Sardaunan Dosso.
In addition, the Zabarmawa community from the Republic of Niger presented an Award of Excellence to the Governor in recognition of his developmental achievements and inclusive leadership.
The event further reinforced the spirit of brotherhood and cooperation between Kebbi State and the Republic of Niger, reflecting a shared commitment to peace, progress, and cultural affinity.
