Senator Ibrahim Lamido (APC- Sokoto East) at the weekend, allegedly inaugurated what seem to be a factional set of APC Executives for the 23 LGs in Sokoto state.
It is believed that the local government party executives are those closely loyal to him.
Although, there are no details how, where and whether congresses were held under the supervision of appointed officials from the party headquarters and observer from the INEC that led to the emergence of the Executives.
Hitherto, no explanation as to whether ward congresses were earlier held by the Lamido led alleged faction as conducted nationwide on Wednesday 11th, February, 2026.
Besides, Honourable Lawali Liman Kaura , Chairman APC National Congress Committee for Sokoto State had supervised the state ward and LG congresses exercise he described satisfactory, hitch free and successful, noting that it was an exercise that evolved the strength, unity and party cohesion among members.
” The outcome had placed the party and members on clean slate of purposeful journey for victory. “
Kaura’s remarks along side his committee Secretary, Zubairu Muhammad Lawali an inspection tour of the exercise wards alongside the Committee Secretary, Zubairu Muhammad Lawali during an inspection tour of the exercise when he also observed and commended the level of discipline and orderliness displayed by party members during the exercises.
He noted that the conduct of party members during the congresses was a practical expression of the meaning of the party’s symbol—the broom—which stands for unity.
Accordingly, Kaura appealed to party members to sustain and continue in the same spirit of orderliness and unity during the forthcoming Local Government Congresses scheduled for this Saturday.
He also praised the excellent arrangements made by the Sokoto State APC leadership of Hon Sadik Isah Achida which paved the way for the success of the exercise under the overall guidance and leadership of Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko.
But, Senator Lamido while inaugurating the alleged factional Executives in Sokoto, the state capital,
congratulated them, urging the acclaimed officials to collectively deepen and strengthen commitment , hard work and resilience for the unity and victory of the party in the state and nation.
Lamido disclosed , claiming that APC National Headquarters had approve of the conduct of the exercise, said two options were allowed through which a consensus or delegate approach could produce party Executives.
” We chose to go by consensus which enabled the emergence of the Executives in a free, fair and credible process without rancour”, he explained.
The APC Senator who tipped Honourable Kabiru Sarkin Fulani as the incoming state party Chairman , appreciated and thanked all the newly elected local government party chairman and secretaries.
” We should be grateful to God for our coming together in peace to strengthen our political journey and path the way forward for the development of Sokoto state”, he remarked while recognising their support and dedication to the state APC popularity and unity.
” In my capacity as your Senator, I will not betray your loyalty, trust and confidence because I will stand before my creator.
” I assure you that my support to you will not stop but increase progressively”, the lawmaker said, calling on youth to remain calm and shun political misgivings and rancour, pointing out that they were all aware that most people across communities in the eastern axis of the state were living in fears , confusion and anxiety.
” This is what we should all reflect on and not political thuggery and rancour.
” We all need to grow above that and embrace decent politics of progress , peace and development. Only this can produce responsible and quality leadership among us”, he pointed out with appeal stressing that anything contrary would be politics of deceit and business which would not be healthy for growth and development.
He further stressed the need for the youths to always weigh options while reflecting on the teachings of Islam.
” You should separate yourselves from the politics of self cnteredness and vendetta. Is not for the development of youths rather destruction of youths. Don not buy into it.
Lamido explained that only credible, trusted and resilient leaders could strive to tackle insecurity, blaming electorates for not voting credible leaders with competence and capacity to deliver basic infrastructure , healthcare among others.
” If you continue to go after politics of money , such developmental and security, education etc would not be achieved and tackled because you sold your future”, Lamido said .
