Kebbi Postpones 2026 Yauri Rigata Cultural Festival

Kebbi Postpones 2026 Yauri Rigata Cultural Festival

The Kebbi State Government has announced the postponement of the 2026 Yauri Rigata Cultural Festival to a new date that will be communicated in due course.

The announcement was made during a press briefing held in Birnin Kebbi by the Secretary to the Kebbi State Government (SSG) and National Chairman of the Yauri Rigata Festival Organising Committee, Alhaji Yakubu Bala Tafida.

Alhaji Tafida explained that the decision to postpone the festival was informed by compelling organisational considerations. According to him, the Organizing committee carefully reviewed the logistics surrounding the event and found it expedient to reschedule.

He noted that the Rigata Cultural Festival was originally scheduled to hold barely a week before the Argungu International Fishing and Cultural Festival, a development that would make it difficult for invited guests, tourists and other stakeholders to attend both major events within such a short period .

“In my capacity as the National Chairman of the Rigata Organising Committee and Secretary to the Kebbi State Government, I wish to formally inform the public that the 2026 Rigata Cultural Festival has been postponed to a later date, which will be announced in due course ,” he said.

Alhaji Tafida expressed appreciation to the Kebbi State Government for its continuous support, particularly the provision of funds towards the successful organisation of the festival, reaffirming the government’s commitment to promoting culture and tourism in the state.

He assured the public that all necessary arrangements would be concluded ahead of the new date to ensure a well-organised and memorable festival.
