27 Rivers Assembly Lawmakers Join APC

In a surprising twist to the ongoing political saga in Rivers State, 27 members of the State House of Assembly have defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The announcement, confirmed by Assemblymember Enemi George, revealed that the lawmakers, led by Martin Amaewhule, decided during their Monday morning sitting.
The defection comes amid a heated Speakership tussle between Amaewhule and Edison Ehie, with allegiances divided between ex-governor Nyesom Wike and Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
The Assembly, under Amaewhule, had served an impeachment notice on Governor Fubara in October, leading to the removal of Ehie as the House leader.
27 out of 32 join APC, 5 remain in in PDP the party give them the mandate in first place.
