2023 General Elections: Zamfara INEC Commences Receiving Non Sensitive Materials

Ahead of 2023 general elections, the Zamfara State  Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has said that it commenced receiving non sensitive materials.

 
 
The State Residence Commissioner, professor Saidu Babura Ahmed disclosed this today while addressing news men in Gusau.
 
 
He explained that some of the material from the national headquarters of the commission have arrived, pointing out that there are 126 items that would be needed to conduct perfect general elections in the State.
 
 
 Professor Ahmed further said that the ballot boxes would be kept at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) for safe keeping, stressing that the ballot boxes would be collected from the CBN a day before the election.
 
 
 According to him,  the commission has mapped out strategies on how best they will conduct free and fair elections in the state.
 
 
He announced that thousands of permanent voters cards(PVC) have not been collected, the owners should come forward and collect their permanent voters card.
 
 
He appealed to traditional leaders, Civil Society Organization (CDOs) and other stakeholders to give necessary support to ensure perfect general elections in 2023.
 
 
On the issue of electorates who abandoned their villages due to insecurity,  he said the commission was very much aware that there are internally Displaced persons and villages that have been destroyed by bandits.
 
 
Noting that the commission has made adequate arrangements to ensure that such people would perform their civic rights, saying that polling units will be constructed at safer areas for them to vote.
 
 
"INEC knows that there are some towns and villages that have been deserted due to the insecurity situation", he added.
 
 
According to him, the 2023 general elections would be different from other elections, saying that formidable strategies have been put in place to conduct free, fair and acceptable elections.
